Eamon Lillis - Accident or Murder

Eamon Lillis was today sentenced to 6 years and 11 months for the manslaughter of his wife Celine Cawley.
The likelihood is that he will only serve between 3 and 5 years if he behalves himself.

summing up Judge Barry White said that Lillis’s only saving grace was that he had called the emergency services.

It seems to me that the law favours the perpetrator rather than the victim. Wayne o’Donoghue had a similar ludicrous sentence when he was found guilty of the manslaughter of 11 year old Robert Holohan in 2006. O’Donoughue ended up serving only 2 years and is now in England living his new life. The Holohans have to live each day without their beautiful son.

I don’t think however anyone will be laughing in either family (Lillis, Cawley) It was a tragic situation. They say crimes of passion like this carry their own life sentence, but do they?

I keep asking myself was it a tragic accident had he no intent to kill her? Maybe we didn’t get the whole story as the trial unfolded. Maybe the jury know more than we do.

Weather he did intend to kill Celine or not I still feel he’s got off very lightly.

3 years I reckon he’ll be out on good behaviour because of course he’s going to be a model prisoner.

We the tax payer will be providing him his bed and breakfast while he can do a course go to the gym and work out and have pretty much an easy time.

Bring back chain gangs. Have them fixing the roads, building motorways and cleaning up the country, at least that way we won’t have to pay for toll roads.

Personally if you kill someone unless it’s in self defence (you’re in mortal danger of being killed yourself) than you should get 10 - 15 years without parole.

More and more I’m of the opinion that if you go to court you are not guaranteed Justice but you are guaranteed the Law.
